Did you know that if you play too high or too low, your child won’t progress as much as when you play at the right level?
Once you complete Play Zone, you will know if you’re playing too high, too low, or just right for your child’s optimal growth and development.
There are 6 stages of play that are part of a child’s natural development. This pertains to all kids.
Once you complete Stages of Play, you will have a better understanding of your child’s development, and will be able to identify which stage your child is currently playing at.
In this module you will learn what skills you should be working on with kids at Stages 1-2. You will also be given some tips, techniques, and activities that will help your child progress developmentally.
As you play patiently and implement the things you learn in this module, you will be able to help your child strengthen their foundation for learning.
This module is focused on helping kids progress through stages 3-4. You’ll learn different strategies to help your child continue to grow.
When you play purposefully by implementing the techniques you’re taught in this module, you’ll be able to increase engagement and communication with your child.
As kids step into stages 5-6 they are now ready for more imaginative play. There is so much power in pretend play.
Once you’ve completed Module 5, you will understand what kind of pretend play your child is participating in, and how to create more opportunities for learning by building on your child’s imagination.

I'm Joy Manning
I created Parents Playing on Purpose for you

I have had the great privilege of working with kids and adults with special needs since 1998 where I started as a residential staff at a group home for women with developmental disabilities.
I have since worked in recreational camps, care centers, public schools, private schools, homes, and orphanages. I started specializing in working with young kids with autism in 2007.
A little background on my education. I earned a Master’s Degree in Education at Arizona State University. I also earned my Early Childhood Special Education Certification through Utah State University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Behavioral Science and Health from the University of Utah. I am also a Certified Play Project Consultant, and started my certification back in 2009.
My goal is to help parents like you learn how to implement simple techniques and strategies in your daily life that will strengthen relationships and increase developmental growth.
I want you to:
- Be confident that you’re doing what’s best for your child
- Understand your child’s developmental progress
- Build a strong relationship with your child
- Have fun with your child!

FAQ
Everything in this course is play-based. Some strategies are based on the Play Project, which is a developmental and relationship based intervention. I first received my Play Project Consultant Certification in 2009. Other strategies come from my Early Childhood Special Education degree and experiences over the years.
Your child does not need a diagnosis for this course to be applicable for you. Here are some reasons you may want to take this course:
- If your child needs help with social skills
- If your child has a difficult time engaging with adults and/or peers
- If your child has a difficult time communicating needs and wants
- If your child does not generally play
- If your child is not participating in complex pretend play
Yes. The lessons taught in this course are geared towards kids ages 6 and under.
No. This course is focused on developmental progress and relationships. Although building a strong relationship is a key component to managing behavior, behavior interventions are not covered in this course.
Autism is a spectrum, and no child is exactly the same. There are however, different stages that kids go through as they progress developmentally. In this course I explain these stages and teach you how to determine what stage your child is at. You’ll then learn how to individualize different techniques and strategies according to what stage your child is at.
If you want to be able to supplement the learning your child is receiving outside of your home, this course can help you do that. The tips and strategies in this course can be used during play sessions, or they can be used during your every day activities. Sometimes just tweaking the things you’re already doing can have a big effect.
There is no time limit for taking the course. That means you can take the course in a few hours, or you can take however long you’d like. You can also come back to the course as your child progresses into different stages of play.
The content of this course can be used in any environment whether it’s home, school, or a clinic. However, it is a beginner’s course. This course would be good if you’re new to special education and you’re looking for strategies and techniques for working with toddlers or preschoolers that have a difficult time engaging with others.
Don't miss out on this opportunity to be part of the Beta Launch of this course for a great price. If you've ever asked "How can I help my child?" This is your answer.
